This week we decided to switch it up a bit and go to a Twitter Thursday This week I found 3 new researchers to follow and help me on my journey to learn more information about my little research subject, dogs!
Today I found these researchers by going through another researcher I already follow, and look at who they’re following or the accounts they have liked posts from or have reposted. One of my favorite accounts that I followed today is @KerriRodriguez0, she is an assistant professor at Univeristy of Arizona and is a direction of the Human-Animal Bond Lab. She posts various types of articles about animal research which I find helps broaden my overall perspective of dogs. I find that looking at who other researchers in the field follow was really helpful in finding some more interesting people.
Our next task was to hashtag surf twitter and see what we could find using what researchers have used as hashtags. One that I found was used most often by researchers was #Dogcognition! Using this hashtag, this led me to a trail of other hashtags also used by researchers like #dogscience which should come to no surprise, as well as #dogbehavior. It was really interesting to see the tactics used by others to keep them connected amongst their information and research like we do with #UCanimals.
Last on our twitter thursday checklist, we were tasked make 3 tweets about the research articles that we are using in our Scicomm articles. With this, I find myself in the same predicament that I always do when trying to fit all of the information into a tiny little tweet. Trying to make it interesting and eye catching while still giving the substance of the article was something that was ‘trial and error’ for me. This is a tweet about my second article about dogs understand human communication with social cues such as pointing.

Last I responded to one of my classmates blog posts. Today, I took a look at Natalie Carillos blog from week 5, I really enjoyed how she described her entire process and the interesting accounts that she followed, she actually introduced me to some pretty cool accounts to follow myself.
Overall, pretty enjoyable week! Until next time…
